Introduction....
WELCOME to the website of BADCOT (Burley & District Chamber of Trade), a thriving voluntary organisation of more than 50 members from commerce and communities in West Yorkshire’s Burley-in-Wharfedale, Menston and surrounding areas.
Established in 2002, we work closely with councils, MPs, the police and local organisations to make sure this area remains a great place to visit, live and do business in.
Our many achievements include the securing of thousands of pounds of compensation for businesses affected by Yorkshire Water's closure of Burley Main Street and major discounts on advertising in the local press and the Burley Handbook 2008.
One of our most successful initiatives has been the increasingly popular Burley Christmas Market, which attracted more than 2,500 visitors last year.
And since widening our membership to cover Menston and the surrounding areas in 2005, we have been working hard to support businesses there too.
BADCOT is keen on networking and holds at least three general dinner-meetings a year, as well as supporting other events, such as the forthcoming Yorkshire Business Market, in Harrogate.
We look forward to working together in 2009 to tackle the tough economic challenges we face. Let's get down to business!
